The park is accessed by a seven-mile causeway from the mainland to the largest island in the Great Salt Lake. Six hundred bison, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, big-horned sheep, numerous coyote, and chukars make the island home. During migratory season, these animals share the island with millions of transient birds. More than 36 miles of back country trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding allow visitors to discover unique geology and see incredible views. Pavilions, showers, and white sandy beaches make floating in the Great Salt Lake a unique experience. Start at the Antelope Island Visitors Center to get oriented with a movie, exhibits, and the gift shop. Then, drive the eight-mile loop road to Buffalo Point for dining (in season) or visit the Historic Fielding Garr Ranch on the southeast end of the island. The ranch interprets life on Utah’s oldest anglo structure. Visitor Center hours are 9 AM to 5 PM.
