Nature lovers can explore areas surrounding the unique ecosystem of the Great Salt Lake and/or the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. There are a number of bird viewing areas - and Antelope Island is said to have over 250 species of migratory birds in the spring and fall. Bald eagles are prevalent in the spring in the south county area, and easy to see. Davis County is a great place to "get back to nature".

Utah truly has the greatest snow on earth. And due to the elevation of the ski resorts, when the winter storms come, the snow doesn’t start to melt until mid-April. There's powder all year long. See our Ski Utah page for seasonal promotional pricing from our area's suppliers. Most hotels include resort tickets in their packages, at rates far lower than those at the ticket windows.

F-16s from Hill AFB flying over the area to training grounds west of the Great Salt Lake are inspiring and common sights in Davis County. The base's museum is free to the public, and features an amazing "history of flight" from the first bi-wings, to modern fighter aircraft. The museum also honors the brave men and women who have served our country. Whether you're a Vet, or a family with little kids in tow, there's dozens of aircraft to attract (and keep) your attention.

It's true that compared to an east coast city like Boston, our history is less than 200 years old. Even so, it's pretty fascinating. The few explorers and mountain men who had been in the area, didn't give the pioneers much of a chance of surviving the brutal summers and winters - or the alkaline soil. This tour is a "must" for Western-history buffs. Take a guided tour or explore the history of Bountiful at your own pace. Either way, you will want to start at the Bountiful Historical Museum, 845 South Main, Ste. B5, Bountiful, UT 84010. For information call 801-296-2060 www.bountifulutah.gov/historicalcommission
